LANCASTER, PA (October 28, 2015) – The Junior League of Lancaster is teaming up with the Lancaster Science Factory to present a “Make it Yourself Workshop,” with local S.T.E.M. hero, meteorologist Christine Ferreira.
During the workshop, WGAL meteorologist Christine Ferreira will share with kids in grades 3-8 how she decided to become a meteorologist and help lead the group in a hands-on activity that demonstrates the science behind meteorology.
The workshop, that runs from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 8., is free with the purchase of an LSF day admission ticket or membership. Space is limited, advanced registration is encouraged.
The “Make it Yourself Workshop” series focuses on S.T.E.M. (science, technology, engineering and math) professions and local heroes who can provide a “real world” perspective and mentoring. There are two additional workshops in the 2015 series. On Nov. 22, an engineering team from the Elizabethtown College present “Truss Me, I’m an Engineer,” a workshop that will focus on the science and technology of building standing structures out of simple materials. On Dec. 6, creative kids interested in computers can learn the basics of programing with an interactive puzzle that makes controlling computers like a game.
