President’s Message

A Message from the 2023-2024 President of the Junior League of Lancaster Hannah Funk

We hear a lot about diversity, whether in the media, at work, or at a Junior League training.

In the Junior League of Lancaster, we have 356 members. We range in age from 24 years old to 101 years young, with an average age of 60. We were born in a variety of states, and we live in different neighborhoods. Some of us have children. Some of us have fur babies. Some of us work at home. Some of us travel locally or domestically for work.

We are attorneys. We are teachers. We are accountants, executive directors, marketers, writers, business owners, property managers, nurses, dieticians, financial advisors, stay-at-home moms, and we are retired from the 9-5 workforce.

Some of us have disposable income. Some of us live paycheck to paycheck.

Some of us celebrate Christmas. Some of us celebrate Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or Festivus.

Some of us thrive in the spotlight. Some of us prefer to work in the background. Some of us knit. Some of us paint. Some of us sing. Some of us manage an Instagram account purely for our cat.

Our variety is what makes us so unique. We each bring different skills and experiences to the table, but our goal is the same, which is to advance women’s leadership through community service. If you want to perform community service, there are plenty of organizations in the area that you can volunteer with. What makes the League unique is our dedication to training our membership.

The Junior League of Lancaster strives to create and maintain a membership that is diverse and inclusive. We hold monthly trainings crafted and facilitated by our members. We’d love to share our resources with you and learn from your skills too.

Membership to the Junior League of Lancaster is open to all women over the age of 21. You can learn more about our membership criteria, requirements, and what to expect as a member by clicking here.
