Volunteer Support to Community Organizations Through the Done-in-a-Day (DIAD) Program

In addition to our ongoing projects and initiatives, the Junior League of Lancaster (JLL) also seeks to provide direct volunteer support to fellow Lancaster County non-profit organizations through our established Done-in-a-Day (DIAD) program. DIAD opportunities are facilitated by our Community Impact Committee, and are typically held at least once a month during the course of the League year and are designed to mobilize our membership base for the purpose of deploying immediate help to organizations that are seeking short-term assistance for a special event or program, and can be accomplished in one day (whether a daytime, evening, or weekend effort).

Past DIAD projects include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Dining in the Fields (Homefields)
  • Smash the Scale (Evolution Power Yoga)
  • Rain Garden Clean Up
  • Walk at Aaron’s Acres
  • Packing boxes at Power Packs Project
  • Sponsor a Family Christmas (New Choices)
  • Shop with a Cop
  • MLK Event (United Way of Lancaster)
  • Craft bags for Carter’s Corner
  • Easter Egg Stuffing for Schreiber Pediatric
  • Taste of Success (New Choices)
  • Cargas Spring Rendezvous (LDCC)
  • Mom’s House 5K
  • Garden Tours at Demuth Art Museum
  • Pedal to Preserve (Lancaster Farmland Trust)
  • Hands on House Half Marathon
  • Love Your Selfie (Evolution Power Yoga)
  • Lancaster Science Factory Gala
  • CASA Heroes Gala
  • Night on the Town (LDCC)
  • Santa Train at Strasburg Railroad
  • Clare House Gala

We are always looking for areas in the community which would benefit from our help and expertise, and would be happy to discuss how the JLL can work with your organization on a collaborative basis to achieve mutual goals.

All DIAD requests must be for community-based, hands-on opportunities, and preferably related to Junior League of Lancaster’s current Issue-Based Community Impact (IBCI) area of tackling the food insecurity. Submitted requests should not be fundraising or administrative in nature. The JLL requests that all proposals be submitted at least two months in advance of an event or activity in order to allow us to evaluate the proposal and obtain formal approvals. We cannot guarantee volunteers nor a certain number of day-of volunteers. If volunteers elect to sign up, the Community Impact VP or an ambassador of the Community Impact Committee will advise you within two weeks of the event.

Thank you for considering the Junior League of Lancaster as a source for dedicated, responsible, community-minded volunteers who are eager to roll up their sleeves and make a difference. We look forward to serving you!
