Benefits of Junior League Membership

The Junior League of Lancaster empowers women through leadership training and collaborating with other organizations to achieve common goals in the Lancaster community. You will build meaningful and lasting relationships with a group of dedicated, talented, and like-minded women who hail from diverse backgrounds, interests, and professions.

As a member, you can receive training and develop your skills in areas such as public speaking, public relations, budgeting, fundraising, advocacy, event coordination, marketing, team building, and so much more!

Should you move out of the area, you can transfer your membership to another Junior League by notifying the Corresponding Secretary.

Eligibility

The Junior League of Lancaster welcomes women over the age of 21. We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment of diverse women who value our mission and wish to make a difference in the Lancaster community through volunteerism.

OUR MISSION: The Junior League of Lancaster is an organization of women whose mission is to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

Financial Commitment

Currently, our New Member Program dues are $150.00. These dues cover the following financial obligations:

  • Association of Junior League International (AJLI) Dues
  • JLL Meetings, Trainings, and Speakers
  • New Member Training Materials
  • Projects that Support Our Issue-Based Community Impact (IBCI) Focus Area of Nutrition Insecurity

Your dues may be paid in full, or you may opt to take advantage of our monthly payment plan by contacting the Treasurer. All payments are nonrefundable.

Active Member Expectations

After you become an Active Junior League of Lancaster member, you will be asked to commit to the following:

  • Honor the commitments you have agreed to in your Member Compact Form
  • Contact your Advisor or the Placement Committee/Nominating Committee if you are having difficulty following through on items you have committed to as a member
  • Attend monthly General Membership Meetings (GMMs)
  • Attend committee meetings
  • Pay $150.00 in annual dues (payment plan options are available)
  • Complete the Placement Matching Tool in each Spring and sign a Member Compact for the following League year

New Member Experience

The New Member Program includes a training program, service opportunities, and social events designed to prepare participants – known as Provisionals – for Active membership in the League. Provisional members who have successfully completed all requirements are invited to join the League as Active members. League requirements have recently changed to accommodate work-volunteer-family balance.

Women who enroll in the New Member Program are expected to:

  • Attend the mandated New Member orientation sessions
  • Attend New Member meetings as decided upon and scheduled by the group
  • Complete a New Member project
  • Pay $150.00 in annual dues (payment plans are available upon request)
  • Attend monthly General Membership Meetings (GMMs)
  • Once placed on a designated committee, regularly attend committee meetings
  • Complete the Placement Matching Tool in the Spring and sign a Member Compact for the following League year

Spring 2024 Recruitment + Orientation Schedule

The Junior League of Lancaster is currently recruiting women who are at least 21 years of age to join the Spring 2024 Provisional Class. For women who are interested in enrolling, a two-day Orientation program will be held in late winter/early spring.
