IMPACT! The JLL Centennial Podcast Chronicles a Century of Community Service in Lancaster

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LANCASTER, PA January 22, 2024 – The Junior League of Lancaster (JLL) proudly presents IMPACT! The JLL Centennial Podcast, a  dynamic yearlong series commemorating a century of dedicated service to the Lancaster community. Since its inception in 1923, the JLL has been championing women’s leadership for tangible community impact through volunteerism, collaboration, and training.

Debbie Havert, JLL Sustainer Chair and a member of the 100th-Anniversary Committee, guides listeners through the stories as the podcast’s host. With insightful interviews and engaging narratives, Havert explores the far-reaching impact of past and present service projects undertaken by the Junior League of Lancaster.

The podcast has already featured compelling episodes covering various facets of the JLL’s impactful initiatives, including Leadership Lancaster (September 2023), Wheatland (October 2023), Demuth Foundation (November 2023), and Nutrition and Food Accessibility (December 2023).

Upcoming episodes promise to continue this rich exploration of the JLL’s legacy, with topics such as Hands-on House (January 2024) and a collaborative conversation with the Lancaster County Community Foundation, who is also celebrating their centennial this year (February 2024). Listeners can anticipate more captivating stories and insights in the spring.

Leslie McCarthy, 100th-Anniversary Committee Chair, expressed her enthusiasm about the milestone, stating, “The Junior League of Lancaster is celebrating 100 years of service to the Lancaster community. Throughout our history, thousands of Lancaster women have been members of the JLL. These women spearheaded numerous service projects and left an enduring mark on our community. Many Lancaster County institutions would not exist if not for the work of the JLL. The podcast gives us a chance to share our story as we move into our next 100 years.”

IMPACT! The JLL Centennial Podcast episodes are available on popular platforms such as Spotify and Apple Podcasts, enabling a broad audience to join in the celebration and learn more about the Junior League’s remarkable contributions to the Lancaster community. You can listen to all episodes on Spotify and on Apple Podcasts.

ABOUT THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF LANCASTER

Established in 1923, the Junior League of Lancaster is an organization of women dedicated to advancing women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training. Junior League members actively assess community needs, conduct issue-based research, and identify areas where they can make the most significant impact in the local ecosystem. The JLL’s current initiative, as of June 2022, is Nutrition Insecurity, aimed at addressing the lack of access to healthy and nutrient-rich food while improving nutrition knowledge and dietary habits across all populations in Lancaster County. For a century, the JLL has identified the needs of its area and rallied to provide meaningful and lasting improvements. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
