A prequel to Practical Magic, which was made into a feature film starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, The Rules of Magic was released in 2017. In a starred review, Publishers Weekly called it “a coming-of-age tale replete with magic and historical reference to the early witch trials. The spellbinding story, focusing on the strength of family bonds through joy and sorrow, will appeal to a broad range of readers. Fans of Practical Magic will be bewitched.” The New York Times wrote that the book’s “strength is a Hoffman hallmark: the commingling of fairly-tale promise with real-life struggle.”

The Junior League of Lancaster is proud to partner with Lancaster County Reach Out and Read for the 2018 Author’s Luncheon. We invite our guests to bring to the luncheon a new book appropriate for children ages newborn to five years old to be distributed by local pediatrician offices during well-child visits. The Junior League of Lancaster is excited to team with Reach Out and Read to promote early literacy! Present your donated books to the Reach Out and Read representative at the luncheon to receive one complimentary raffle ticket per book. Attendees can earn up to three raffle tickets.

Special thanks to our sponsors Cork & Cap Restaurant, Cork Collection, and the Baker’s Table for their generous support of the 2018 luncheon.
