 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Junior League of Lancaster Set to Host 1st Annual Cornhole Classic Fundraiser

LITITZ, PA – September 8, 2022 – The Junior League of Lancaster (JLL), an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers, is excited to announce the launch of its 1st Annual Cornhole Classic, a free admission, family-friendly community event, on Saturday, September 17th from 2:00–8:00 p.m. at Kissel Valley Farm (645 E. Oregon Road/Lititz, PA 17543).

Open to the public, guests of all ages will be treated to live music, local artisan vendor stands to shop from, a silent auction, and an opportunity to win big in a 50/50 raffle. Children will be able to enjoy a host of engaging activities throughout the day, including inflatables to play and ride on, a llama farm, and temporary tattoo artistry stations. Beer and wine will be on-site and available for purchase from the Bulls Head Public House. Cuisines from around the world will be prepared from a variety of local food trucks, including Meat The Browns, Homage, and KatieCakes & Co. The JLL will receive a percentage of all food and beverage sales.

Attendees are also able to compete in an organized cornhole tournament where declared winners of each category (beginner, intermediate, and advanced) will be awarded prizes. Online registration to participate, whether as an individual ($15.00/per person) or team ($30.00/two players), is open and will close on Friday, September 9th at 11:59 p.m. Day-of registration will remain available to interested players until 3:00 p.m. All registration fees are non-refundable.

“We have embarked on a brand new League year, and cannot think of a better way to commemorate the occasion than inviting all of our fellow Lancaster County neighbors for a day’s worth of spirited fun, competition, and celebration,” stated Susan Bowser, President of the Junior League of Lancaster, PA.

While there is no entrance fee, individuals and families are encouraged to contribute a $5.00 donation to the JLL, which will be considered a gift to maintain adequate funding for the League’s extensive range of community service programs and projects, including its recently adopted nutrition insecurity Issue-Based Community Impact (IBCI) focus area.

“The Cornhole Classic was conceptualized to honor the moving work of our beloved community partners, all of whom inspire us every day and ignite our own mission to be measurable forces of change in everything we do,” remarked Special Events Committee Co-Chairs Annie Hartley and Monica Douville.

The JLL would like to pay special tribute to its “Boss of the Toss” Level Sponsors (Resonance Audiology and Hearing Aid Center, GIANT, and Respace Systems), as well as its “Gusher” Level Sponsors (Members 1st Federal Credit Union and Mercedes-Benz of Lancaster) for their generous fiscal support.

ABOUT THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF LANCASTER

Established in 1923, the Junior League of Lancaster is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Junior League members scan the needs of our community, conduct issue-based research and identify areas where we can be most impactful in our local ecosystem. As of June 2022, our current initiatives include Nutrition Insecurity, a newly adopted Issue-Based Community Impact (IBCI) focus area, to combat the lack of access to healthy and nutrient-rich food and improve nutrition knowledge and dietary habits across all populations in Lancaster County. For nearly a century, we have identified the needs of our area and have rallied to provide meaningful and lasting improvements. Our purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

Please visit the League’s website at www.jllancaster.org for more information about the League’s projects, programs and fundraisers.
