Junior League Awards Grants to Community Organizations

The Junior League of Lancaster®, PA, Inc. (JLL)  awards grants to community organization through its annual Community Grant program. In June 2020, JLL awarded nearly $5,000 to Lancaster County nonprofits doing work in Lancaster County.

  • A grant of $725 was awarded to Bright Side Opportunities Center, of Lancaster, to support its STEM summer camp program. The grant will enable a total of approximately 90 campers to visit the garden at Hamilton Elementary School for one hour, one time per week during each two-week camp session as part of the STEM summer camp.
  • A total of $4000 in grants will enable The Edible Classroom, of Washington Boro, to expand the garden education program at Park Elementary School in Columbia, thereby increasing its impact from 50 to over 500 students. The grant will be used as:
    • $2,000 for a trained Edible Classroom garden educator for Fall 2020.
    • $2,000 will make it possible for 25 children to participate in a Summer Garden Camp in Summer 2020. For the past two years, The Edible Classroom provided Garden Camp for 50 1st-6th grade students. In 2020 we are increasing our impact to 100 children by offering four, week-long camps free-of-charge to the families of Columbia Borough.

Note: The programs may seem some changes or have items moved due to COVID-19 restrictions. The programs do have 24 months to use the funds.
