“FRESH START FOR FAMILIES” HOUSEHOLD GOODS DRIVE

FAULKNER BMW AND JUNIOR LEAGUE OF LANCASTER ANNOUNCE “FRESH START FOR FAMILIES” HOUSEHOLD GOODS DRIVE TO BENEFIT TABOR COMMUNITY SERVICES

LANCASTER, PA (January 7, 2015) – From Thursday, January 1 until Friday, January 30, 2015, Faulkner BMW and the Junior League of Lancaster (JLL) will offer a “Fresh Start for Families” household goods drive to benefit the programs of Tabor Community Services. Faulkner BMW staff welcomes community members to visit Faulkner BMW during its business hours at 1530 Manheim Pike in Lancaster, and drop off donations of household goods needed by families and individuals in Lancaster County transitioning from homelessness and housing insecurity into safe and permanent housing. These individuals are working diligently to get themselves into stable residential situations, yet many still struggle to provide themselves with the most basic of items once permanent housing is secured.

These families are in need of the following items: twin/full sheet sets; bath towels and wash cloths; paper towels and toilet paper; alarm clocks; all-purpose and glass cleaners; brooms and mops; laundry detergents and laundry bags/hampers; dust spray and “Magic Erasers”; dish and hand soap; flatware; pots and pans; vacuum cleaners with bag inserts; dressers; non-perishable and microwave food; baby wipes and diapers in sizes 4, 5, and 6; gas and food gift cards; and bus passes.

Donations may be brought into Faulkner BMW’s main sales building, where an all-new, all-electric 2014 BMW i3 will have its tailgate open to collect the household items. The donations will be given to Tabor Community Services case workers, who will distribute them to Tabor clients. Faulkner BMW’s business hours are: Monday through Thursday – 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Friday – 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and Saturday – 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The JLL and Faulkner BMW (each found online at www.jllancaster.org and www.faulknerbmw.com) are community partners this year as a result of Faulkner BMW’s $2,500 Cornerstone Sponsorship of the League, which will help further its 90-year-old mission of developing the potential of women while promoting voluntarism, and positively impacting the community through the trained, effective action of its volunteers.

For 46 years, Tabor Community Services (found online at www.tabornet.org) has been helping clients learn how to meet their housing and financial challenges, rebuild their lives, and contribute to the strength of the Lancaster community in the process. Two of its programs which assist women and children, Beth Shalom and Jubilee House, are past projects of the JLL. This year, Tabor will serve more than 4,000 family and individual cases through 17 different programs.

The Faulkner Organization has been in the retail auto industry for over 80 years, providing customers the ultimate customer experience. Since 1980, Faulkner BMW in Lancaster has been a family-owned business building the foundation of family values and quality service. Fueled by innovation, the 2014 BMW i3 and featured “Fresh Start for Families” vehicle was just named the Kelley Blue Book #1 Best Green Car of 2014.
